John S,

The Ford Transit Connect is equipped with all-wheel drive functionality. Having precise steering is critical for changing lanes and navigating on the road efficiently. However, eventual challenges may arise. Issues such as steering fluid leaks, turning to one side unexpectedly, or a stuck steering wheel could occur. Problems with strut bearings, rack mounts, and steering pumps could also manifest. Loose steering pumps can pose significant threats to your vehicle's functionality. It is recommended to replace the power steering fluid every 75,000 miles. In addition to regular fluid changes, be attentive to any noises coming from the steering components. A faulty bearing may produce an unpleasant sound, while a loose bearing can be bothersome to the ears.

The Ford Transit Connect available on Ford.com does not offer All Wheel Drive as an option, unlike the larger Transit van which does have an AWD drive option. Despite calling 20 dealerships, I have been unable to find any AWD Transit Connect models. The Ford website does not provide the option to customize a Transit Connect with AWD. Therefore, I am unsure where people are claiming to have seen an AWD version of the Transit Connect in the United States, as they are not available here.

The 2018 Ford Transit Connect Wagon Titanium is available with both short wheelbase (SWB) and long wheelbase (LWB) options, and they come with front-wheel drive. The Cargo XL models with rear 180° doors in SWB and LWB versions are also equipped with front-wheel drive. The Transit Connect Wagon XL with rear 180° doors in LWB and Wagon XL with rear liftgate in LWB are both front-wheel drive as well. Similarly, all other 2018 Transit Connect vans, including the Cargo XL with rear liftgate in SWB and LWB, the Wagon and Cargo XLT with rear 180° doors in SWB and LWB, and the Wagon and Cargo XLT with rear liftgate in SWB and LWB, are all front-wheel drive vehicles.
