I couldn't find any official recalls or service bulletins related to the Chevrolet Uplander, but it's worth mentioning that many drivers have reported issues, especially in the 2005, 2006, and 2007 models. The key problem seems to be a slipping transmission, likely stemming from issues with the valve body, which a dealership can address with reconditioning. Other potential issues include difficulty shifting gears or complete transmission failure. The root causes of these problems are likely worn transmission bands and malfunctioning control modules, respectively. Regularly changing and maintaining transmission fluid can help to prevent these issues, but it's also advisable to have your bands and control module inspected sooner rather than later.
A recall has been issued for the 2019 Chevy Uplander due to a faulty transmission that is slipping.
After running for a brief period, the transmission begins to slip until it eventually stops pulling, causing the vehicle to come to a halt. At this point, the driver turns off the engine, restarts it, and puts the transmission back into gear as a temporary solution, but the issue reoccurs soon after.
I previously owned a 2007 Uplander and experienced a transition from slipping gears to abrupt, forceful shifts. The dealership corrected this issue under the warranty we purchased, which totaled $850. The next 2007 Uplander we had didn't encounter any problems. However, our current 2008 Uplander is exhibiting potential electrical, pressure solenoid valve, or mechanical issues.
How about installing a new gearbox in the Chevy up lander? Sounds like a smart plan.
