On the passenger side of the engine compartment, the 2002 Chevy Malibu oil pressure switch is located towards the rear of the firewall near the alternator. To replace it, you can access the sensor from above or below the engine. You will need a 10mm socket to remove the oil pressure sensor from the engine block. Symptoms such as a ticking noise from the engine and a low pressure error code may indicate this issue. Another potential cause could be a malfunctioning oil pressure management solenoid or a damaged rod in the oil filter housing. The cost for diagnosis and replacement can vary from $150 to $300, depending on the necessary parts and labor.
The oil pressure sensor can be found close to the alternator towards the rear of the engine.
