The recommended engine oil for the Mazda CX7 is Sae 5w-20 synthetic motor oil. Before changing the oil in the car, ensure the vehicle has been turned off and parked for a few hours so that the oil is not too hot to handle. Locate the oil pan and drain plug in the engine compartment, position a bucket underneath the plug, and remove it to let the oil drain into the pan. Allow the oil to fully drain, which may take about an hour. Once it has stopped dripping, replace the drain plug and find the intake port on top of the oil pan. Fill the oil pan using a funnel, making sure not to overfill it. It's better to be slightly under the full mark to avoid leaks and oil burn off. Close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you're done with the oil change.
