The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 utilizes synthetic oil across its lineup of three engines. The 4.3L V6 engine requires SAE 5W-30 oil and has a capacity of 6 quarts, while the 5.3L V8 and the 6.2L V8 engines are designed for SAE 0W-20 oil and can hold up to 8 quarts. It is advised to change the oil every 7,500 miles or at least once a year. Regular oil changes can prolong engine life, improve fuel efficiency, and enhance performance by eliminating particles and sludge buildup. Failure to change the oil can lead to various engine issues as the oil becomes thinner, more abrasive, and causes increased wear on critical engine components.
I purchased 5W-30 synthetic oil for my 2014 Sierra. Will it cause any damage to the engine since I didn't use the recommended 0W-20 oil?
For the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500, it is recommended to use SAE 0W-20 viscosity grade oil for the 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines. On the other hand, for the 4.3L V6 and 6.0L V8 engines, it is best to use SAE 5W-30 grade oil. The oil capacity for the 4.3L engine is 6 quarts (5.7 liters), while for the 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines it is 8.5 Quarts (8.0 Liters).
How about the oil filter for the 4.3-liter V6 engine?
It all hinges on the type of engine under your hood. If you've got the 4.3-liter engine, you should stick with the 5W-30 oil. If that's the engine you've got, you're good to go. This engine takes 6 quarts of oil.
I'm trying to find the fuse for my headlight. You guys are saying that fuse 59 is for the headlamp, but under the hood of my truck it's labeled as the fuel pump fuse.
