In the Cobalt, both the standard and upgraded stereo systems feature a 6-3/4" front speaker from the factory. If the speakers are not functioning, a blown fuse is likely the cause. To access the fuse box located under the hood of the car, you will need to raise the hood and secure it in place. Along the right side of the engine compartment, there will be a black box or case with a visible seam. Opening this case will reveal the fuse inside. The back of the case lid will display a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not present on the box, you can refer to the car's owner's manual. Once you have determined the needed fuse, carefully remove it. A intact fuse will have a thin metal strip connecting the two raised sections. If this strip is broken, the fuse is defective and should be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still functional and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are reasonably priced at around $10.
