The 2009 MINI Cooper requires synthetic 5w-30 motor oil for an oil change. Before starting the oil change process, ensure the car has been parked and turned off for a couple of hours to avoid burning yourself on hot oil. Locate the oil pan and drain plug under the engine compartment. Place a bucket underneath, remove the plug, and let the oil drain completely, which could take about an hour. Once done, replace the drain plug, locate the intake port on the top of the oil pan, and use a funnel to fill it to the full mark without overfilling. It's okay to be slightly under the full mark, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil burn off. Close the port, clean up any spills, and the oil change is complete.
The 2009 Mini Cooper is best suited for synthetic motor oil 5w-30 as per manufacturer recommendations.
On the other hand, refreshing the oil while it's still warm enables it to flow out more effectively, carrying impurities away. In contrast, if the oil is cold, it will stick to the inner engine components, attracting more dirt.
