For your 2012 Toyota Prius, you can opt for either FMVSS No.116 DOT 3 or SAE J1703 brake fluid. While the manual recommends these fluids, if you have trouble finding them, any DOT 3 brake fluid from a reputable brand will work as well. To check your brake fluid levels, open the hood and locate the reservoir near the top of the engine on the driver's side close to the windshield. The cap will indicate the type of brake fluid you need. Ensure the fluid level is above the minimum mark, and if it's low, add more until you reach the maximum level. Be careful not to overfill.
