The fuel tank pressure sensor on a 2006 Chevy Cobalt is located directly on top of the charcoal canister. It can be accessed underneath the rear section of the car without needing to lift it up. All you'll need is a flat blade screwdriver to remove it. This sensor plays a vital role in detecting issues such as a faulty gas cap, fuel system leaks, controlling fuel usage, ensuring compliance with emission standards, and informing the vehicle's computer of any malfunctions. Signs of a faulty sensor may include difficult starting, engine stalling, rough idling, loss of power, reduced fuel efficiency, illuminated check engine light, and black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The average cost to replace this sensor in a 2006 Cobalt is around $250 to $300, with labor costs ranging from $160 to $200.

The fuel pressure sensor is not positioned on the top of the fuel tank, I’ll say it again, the fuel pressure sensor is not on the top of the fuel tank. It can be found on the top of the charcoal canister below the back of the car. There's no need to lift the car with a jack to reach it. All you need is a flat blade screwdriver, and you can have it removed in under a minute.

No, the location of the component varies depending on where it was made. For example, in my 2005 Cobalt LS, it is not found on the charcoal canister but on the fuel pump. So, it is not always positioned on the charcoal canister in the 2005 LS model.

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but could you describe what it looks like? I don't have any symptoms, but I experienced an issue with the cap on my first car. It appeared to be running smoothly before, but now it's acting up.
