The Toyota Avalon, along with most modern cars, uses DOT 3 brake fluid. Toyota suggests having the brake fluid flushed every 60,000 miles. To carry out this maintenance properly, you will need to buy three 12-ounce bottles of DOT 3 brake fluid. This involves draining the system, refilling it, draining it again, and then refilling it once more. This process ensures that all of the old fluid is completely removed from the lines. The most popular types of brake fluid are DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5. DOT 3 and DOT 4 can be used interchangeably, but DOT 3 is the preferred choice since it absorbs less moisture from the air, enabling you to use the fluid for a longer period between flushes. DOT 5 is designed for heavy-duty applications and is not recommended for everyday vehicles.
The 2019 Toyota Avalon can be equipped with brake fluid that meets DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5 standards.
