The 2003 Ford Escape with the 2.0-liter inline-4 base engine requires 4.5 quarts of 5W-20 synthetic oil for an oil change. To begin the process, ensure that the vehicle has been parked and turned off for a couple of hours to let the engine cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug underneath. Place a bucket beneath the plug, remove it, and allow the old oil to drain into the bucket. Let it drain completely, which may take about an hour. Once it's done dripping, reattach the drain plug and then find the intake port on top of the oil pan. Use a funnel to fill the oil pan to the full mark, being careful not to overfill. It's okay to be slightly under, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil consumption. After filling the oil, close the port, clean up any spills, and you're all set.
Just wanted to give you a quick update: I switched my 2003 Ford Escape to a high mileage synthetic oil to help it run smoother and it seems to be working great.
The 2003 Ford Escape equipped with the standard 2.0L inline-4 engine requires 4.5 quarts of 5W20 synthetic oil, while the version featuring the optional 3.0L V6 engine needs 5.5 quarts of the same oil type.
