The recommended oil type for the 2014 Toyota Highlander is sae 0w-20, and it holds 6.4 quarts. To change the oil, ensure the car has been parked and turned off for a few hours to avoid getting burned from the hot oil. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment, find the drain plug underneath, place a bucket below, and remove the plug to let the oil drain completely. Replace the plug after it stops dripping, usually after about an hour. Next, locate the intake port on top of the oil pan, use a funnel to fill it with oil up to the full level without overfilling. It's okay to be slightly below full, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil burning. Once full, close the port, clean up any spills, and your oil change is complete.
In 2014, the Toyota Highlander with a 2.7 L 4-cylinder engine needs 4.6 quarts of oil, while the 3.5 L V6 engine version requires 6.4 quarts. SAE 0W-20 oil is recommended for both models for optimal performance.
