In the 2005 Ford Mustang, you can locate the camshaft position sensor towards the front of the engine, beneath the coil positioned on the same side as the dipstick. The main role of the camshaft sensor is to determine the camshaft's position relative to the crankshaft. This information is then transmitted to the powertrain control module to help regulate the fuel injector and ignition system, determining the precise amount of fuel needed for combustion and power. If you suspect the sensor is faulty, keep an eye out for warning signs like the ignition light coming on, difficulty starting or failure to start the vehicle, and the car stuttering or jerking while accelerating.
