In a 2005 Toyota Corolla, the heater control valve is located either on the inlet or outlet port of the heater core. This valve is operated by a cable connected to the system, allowing coolant to flow through the heater core as needed. If the valve malfunctions, the car will quickly overheat. This happens because insufficient coolant reaches the heater core and, consequently, the engine. If the vehicle starts overheating, there's a risk of damaging the head gasket, which can be a costly repair. If you notice the car overheating, it's best to pull over, park, and call for a tow truck.
The heater control valve for a 2005 Toyota Corolla can be found on the driver's side of the engine bay, specifically on the firewall.
