To change the oil in a 2018 Toyota 4Runner, start by ensuring the vehicle has been turned off for a couple of hours to allow the engine to cool down. Locate the oil filter on the passenger side of the engine compartment and gather the necessary supplies including SAE 0W-20 oil (5.4 quarts capacity). Place a bucket under the drain plug, remove the plug, and allow the old oil to drain completely, which may take about an hour. Once done, reattach the plug and refill the oil using a funnel, being careful not to overfill. Wipe up any spills, secure the intake port, and your oil change is complete. Be cautious as the oil can be hot and cause burns.
