The PCV valve on a 2004 Ford Explorer Sportrac is typically found close to the valve cover. You can easily spot it by locating a hose with a half-inch diameter coming out of the valve cover on the right side of the vehicle. It will be situated near the firewall, between there and the cover on the vehicle's left side. Replacing the valve yourself will require parts costing between $30 and $50. However, if you opt to have a professional handle it, the total cost including parts and labor will range from $180 to $300.
