In the engine compartment of a 2012 Ford Escape, the power steering pump is situated on the driver's side. Ensuring proper steering is essential for safe lane changes and maneuvering on the road, but issues may arise over time. These problems could include potential leakage of steering fluid, veering to one side, a stuck steering wheel, faulty strut bearings, a problematic rack mount, or a loose power steering pump that could spell disaster for your vehicle. It is recommended to change the power steering fluid approximately every 75,000 miles and also be mindful of any noises coming from the steering components. A malfunctioning bearing may produce an unpleasant noise, while a loose one can be quite bothersome to the ear.
