The EVAP canister, also known as the purge valve, in the 2016 Jeep Cherokee is located on the driver side firewall next to the brake booster and master cylinder. It contains activated charcoal to capture emissions from your car, making it more environmentally friendly and healthier for you to breathe inside the vehicle. If the canister malfunctions, you may detect a gasoline or rotten egg odor in the car, which is not safe to inhale and can cause the car to fail an emissions test. If you notice these smells or receive an error code, it's essential to bring your car to a mechanic.
The 2016 Jeep Cherokee's purge valve can be found in the vacuum hose connecting the fuel vapor canister to the intake system.
