The 2003 Chevy Silverado has a starter solenoid that's pretty easy to find. To locate it, start by going to the front of your truck and popping the hood. Use the arm on the passenger side of the engine bay to secure the hood. Look towards the left side beyond the engine block and transmission to spot the starter solenoid attached to the starter. If you discover that the solenoid is defective, it will have to be swapped out. A new one can cost anywhere from $23 to $86. If you opt to have a professional mechanic replace it, expect to pay between $49 and $173 for labor costs.
