It may come as a surprise to know that the crankshaft position sensor on your 2004 Buick Rendezvous is located very near the crankshaft itself. Specifically, when you're observing your Rend's engine, look above the flywheel with the belt towards the front. You will notice the sensor positioned right on top of it and secured with a single 13mm bolt. Removing this bolt will allow you to easily lift the sensor out. If you're curious about the symptoms of a failing sensor, you can expect the engine to stall out when the crankshaft signal gets interrupted, which can be dangerous if it occurs while driving. It's important to replace the sensor promptly if it's malfunctioning.
