The 2011 Chevy Cruze with a 1.4 L engine has its MAP sensor situated inside the intake manifold towards the back of the motor. This sensor gives real-time data on the pressure in the manifold to the engine's control unit. If the MAP sensor malfunctions, the control unit cannot accurately determine the engine's workload, resulting in the air-fuel mixture being too rich (more fuel) or too lean (less fuel). This can cause increased fuel usage, reduced fuel efficiency, and potential engine knocking, leading to decreased power. A faulty MAP sensor might not always trigger the check engine light or generate a diagnostic trouble code on the computer.
There are two sensors that appear identical.
Where is the map sensor located on a 1.4 turbo Chevy Cruze?
Check the rear side of the engine in the intake manifold to locate the map sensor.
It's the one located on the left side of the car, where the driver sits.
