In most vehicles, including the 2017 Chevy Equinox, you'll find the cabin air filter behind the glove box on the passenger side. To reach the filter, you'll need a 7mm socket and a ratchet. Look underneath the glove box to locate three screws securing a panel that needs to be removed before taking out the glove box itself. Behind the glove box, there will be a black plastic cover which houses the filter. Simply release the tabs, open the cover, and replace the filter with a new one. Put everything back together as it was before.

This can be found beneath the glove compartment, towards the rear. You might have to take out the glove box to access it.
