The EGR valve in the x*x is positioned at the rear of the engine, above the driveshaft and situated behind the exhaust manifold. It will require plenty of patience if you choose to tackle the replacement yourself. You will have to take out the upper intake system and partially disassemble the exhaust system. A variety of tools will be needed, including long and short extensions, ratchets, and wobble joints, as well as Torx head and Allen head bits of different sizes. Access to the bolts is limited, making the work challenging. Having the EGR valve replaced at a repair shop can cost between $350 and $550, with the valve alone priced around $400.
