To access and replace the fuel filter on a 2008 Hyundai Accent, you will first need to remove the rear seat to reach the access panel on the top side of the gas tank. Before disconnecting the filter, run the engine and then remove the fuel pump fuse to drain most of the gas from the lines. Let the vehicle stall out, wait a minute, and try starting it again until it won't start. After removing the rear seat, use a Flathead screwdriver to pry up and remove the access panel located in the center of the car. Proceed to disconnect the fuel lines and remove the fuel filter.
The fuel filter in your Hyundai is not a part that can be serviced separately; it is inside the fuel tank and is a part of the fuel sending unit. To access it, you will need to remove the fuel tank. I learned this firsthand with my 2008 Hyundai Accent when I checked under the back seat and saw the fuel pump, but not the filter next to it as in older models. I unknowingly spent money on a filter I didn't need. Now, I have to take it to a shop for help.
In the 2008 Hyundai Accent, the fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump assembly and can be found underneath the rear seat of the car.
The fuel filter is not attached to the pump; it's more likely part of the fuel sock, which can usually be found inside the frame rail. Just trace the fuel lines and you should spot it.
The fuel filter on a 2008 Hyundai Accent can be found elsewhere, not underneath the backseat as I thought. I checked, and it's definitely not there!
