In the Jeep Liberty, you can find the OBD port beneath the dashboard on the driver's side. This port allows you to connect an OBD reader, a tool commonly used by mechanics to check for trouble codes. When the car's computer detects an issue with a component, it generates a trouble code which guides the mechanic on what to investigate and repair. While some vehicles can show these codes on the dashboard display, most require an OBD reader to interpret them. Additionally, these trouble codes will typically trigger the check engine light in most cars.
The spot where you can plug in an OBD scanner to check your Jeep Liberty's diagnostics is situated beneath the dashboard on the left side for the driver.
