The PCV valve on your 2008 Chevy Suburban can be found at the intake. It is housed in a small plastic casing and connected to a tube that leads up from your crankshaft. The main function of the PCV valve is to recirculate the gases present in your crankshaft back into the engine. This allows for the gases to be safely burned off in the combustion chamber upon entering the engine. By doing so, it helps in decreasing the overall emissions from your SUV, as it forces the gases from the engine to be burnt off, pass through the catalytic converter, and exit through the exhaust. In the past, on older vehicles, these gases were simply released into the air, which contributed to a higher carbon footprint for the vehicle.
