The speed sensor for the 2002 Toyota RAV4 is located on the transmission, and it measures the speed of the transmission output or wheels. This information is used by the ECM to adjust various engine functions like ignition timing, fuel mixture, and transmission shifting points. If the sensors don't provide a proper speed signal, the PCM won't be able to effectively manage gear shifts. As a result, the transmission may shift roughly or faster than usual, and issues with the sensors can also delay gear shifts.
The speed sensor for a 2002 Toyota RAV4 can be found on the transmission or transaxle of the vehicle.
