This vehicle has three speed sensors installed on the transmission: one for input, one for output, and the "intermediate" sensor for the transfer shaft. You can find the ISS by removing the front left wheel and looking for it next to the steel cover panel on the transmission. It is held in place with a 9mm bolt. If the sensor is not functioning properly, it can lead to missing or incorrect data for shift timing. Signs of a failing ISS include rough shifting, speedometer failure, throttle hesitation, frequent stalling, decreased engine performance, misfires, and lower fuel efficiency.
