To replace the transmission filter on the 2006 Ford Fusion, first you should perform a fluid change. To change the transmission fluid, ensure the car is parked on level ground and open the hood. Locate the transmission fluid reservoir, usually near the transmission, and find the dipstick. Remove it, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then pull it out again to check the fluid level. Use a funnel to refill the reservoir with the proper amount of fluid, being careful not to overfill. Once filled, close up the reservoir. The key step is to remove the pan and filter before refilling with new fluid when the reservoir is low on fluid. The filter is attached with two bolts and can be easily removed. After changing the filter, complete the fluid change as required.
The 2006 3.0l does not come with a transmission filter.
To replace the transmission filter, you'll need to crawl under the vehicle. Once underneath, locate the transmission fluid pan. By removing the pan, you will be able to access the transmission filter for replacement.
