The 2001 Toyota Camry with a 3.5-liter V6 engine requires 6.4 quarts of motor oil, preferably SAE 5W-30. It is recommended to change the oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles to prevent engine issues. You can do the oil change yourself, but do not forget to replace the oil filter as well. If you prefer, you can also visit places like a Mercedes dealership, Jiffy Lube, or Firestone Auto Care for oil changes. Neglecting to change the oil can lead to significant engine problems, potentially causing components to warp and wear down.
According to the manual (page 250), the 5S-FE engine (2.2 liter 4-cylinder) requires 3.8 quarts with the filter change and 3.6 quarts without. The 1MZ-FE engine (3.0 liter 6-cylinder) needs 5 quarts with the filter and 4.8 quarts without. To determine which engine your vehicle has, go to the driver's side door and look at the model code. If it begins with SXV20, you have the 5S-FE engine. If it starts with MCV20, you have the 1MX-FE engine. My car was manufactured in Kentucky, USA.
My Toyota Camry with a 4-cylinder engine indicates a capacity of 3.6 quarts on the engine. You are putting in an extra quart and a half... Curious as to why? This is to prevent oil leaks from the gaskets and oil filter.
It's actually a 2.2-liter, not a 2.4-liter engine.
The oil capacity for a 2001 Toyota Camry with a 2.4 L 4-cylinder engine is 4.3 liters (equivalent to 4.5 US quarts), and for the 3.5 L V6 engine, it is 6.1 liters (equivalent to 6.4 US quarts).
