In the 2006 Toyota Prius, the trunk and cargo space measures 16.1 cubic feet. The larger measurement refers to the space with the seats folded down, while the smaller one is with the seats folded up. There is a small opening in the vehicle's floor that can be raised up, revealing a compartment where the seats can be folded down. To accomplish this, you need to pull the lever on the side of the seats which will allow you to push them down into the compartments and secure them in place. You will hear a click when they are locked into position. Reversing this process to raise the seats back up should only take a minute or two.
