The amount and type of oil you should use for your 2014 Hyundai Sonata will depend on the engine model. If you have the standard 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, you will need 5.3 US quarts of 5W-30 or 5W-40 oil including the filter. For the upgraded 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, the capacity is 4.8 US quarts with the filter, and you should use 5W-20 or 5W-30 oil unless you are in very cold weather, in which case 10W-30 oil is recommended to prevent freezing.
Hyundai suggests using 5W-30 or 5W-40 oil for the 2.0L engine in the 2014 Hyundai Sonata. For the 2.4L engine, it is advised to use either SAE 5W-30 or 5W-20. The total oil capacity is 4.86 US quarts (4.6 liters).
