In America, it's essential to use 5W-30 oil for a 2012 VW Jetta TDI to ensure the engine runs smoothly. Using high-quality oil is crucial as bad oil can lead to engine issues, such as a burning smell and knocking noises. If left unchecked, it could even cause the engine to stop working or, in extreme cases, the car to explode. To avoid these problems, it's recommended to replace the oil every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. Failure to do so could result in poor gas mileage and engine complications.
The recommended motor oil for a 2012 VW Jetta is SAE 5W-30 synthetic oil.
I can only seem to find synthetic oil designed for gasoline engines - do you know where I can find one that's specifically made for Diesel engines?
All Volkswagen TDI vehicles with common rail systems made from 2009 to 2015 need to use VW 507 specification oil. This oil must be either 0w30 or 5w30 full synthetic. If the oil bottle does not specifically state VW 507, it should not be used in my vehicles. Don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise.
