In the 2016 models of the Toyota Prius, there are three variations to choose from, each with a different engine. The Prius and Prius V are equipped with a 1.8L 4Cylinder engine, while the Prius C has a smaller 1.5L 4Cylinder engine. The 1.8L engines require 4.4 quarts of SAE 0W-20 full synthetic motor oil, whereas the 1.5L engine requires 3.9 quarts of the same type of oil. If you don't have 0W-20 oil, you can temporarily use SAE 5W-20, although it's not recommended. It's advised to switch back to SAE 0W-20 as soon as possible since higher viscosity oils can lead to increased friction, resulting in premature wear and potential failure. Despite the slightly higher cost, it's best to stick with the recommended oil for each model to ensure long-term savings by avoiding unnecessary wear and tear.
