For the 2005 Lexus GX470 with a 4.7 L V8 engine, it is advised to use 6.5 quarts of full synthetic SAE 5W-30 oil, including the filter. While using full synthetic is not mandatory, it is recommended for better long-term engine performance. If you plan to change the oil yourself, you will also need a new oil filter. Consider a WIX51348 filter, which is compatible and available for as low as $9. If you opt for synthetic oil, it is suggested to change it every 7,500 miles, whereas conventional oil should be changed every 5,000 miles.
