To reach the fuel pump of a 2013 Chevy Malibu, you must fully lower the tank. The tank has a cap on top that allows inspection, but the entire fuel pump assembly cannot be removed without lowering the tank completely. Begin by taking out the bolts securing the fuel tank, then disconnect all power and gasoline lines. Lower the tank using a jack, and once it's down, you can fully open the top of the tank to replace the fuel pump.

To drain the fuel from a 2013 Malibu, you can access the lower left side of the gas tank by removing the left rear fender and rear window. Removal of the fuel pump is possible after taking out the motor and transmission. This information is from my personal experience working on several 2019 Chevy Malibus.
