Starting in 2005, the Audi A5 1.8 turbo with TFSI now comes standard with a timing chain instead of a timing belt. This is excellent news, as a timing chain is designed to last the entire lifespan of your vehicle. Often, the chain is covered by warranty for the first 10 years or 100,000 miles on the engine. Should replacement become necessary, the parts alone can range from $40 to $240. Opting for a professional mechanic or automotive technician to handle the replacement will cost an additional $50 to $350 for labor.
