Although you can use SAE 5W-40 conventional oil in a pinch, it's not recommended. Even though the conventional oil is cheaper, its viscosity at operating temperature is lower, causing the engine to work harder for the same performance. This decreased efficiency can result in premature wear on engine parts due to increased friction, leading to potential problems in the future.
