Hey there! Honda put out a service advisory for the 2012 Honda CR-V regarding a problem with the heater core being partially blocked, which limits the flow of coolant to the driver's side. As a result, the driver's side vents may blow cooler air compared to the passenger's side. The good news is, you don't have to replace the heater core to fix this issue. The solution involves flushing the heater core using a specialized heat pump and a common cleaning product known as CLR. The entire flushing process typically takes around 2-3 hours. Just a heads up, this isn't really a DIY job unless you have a strong mechanical background.
There is no recall for the heater core in 2012 Honda CR-V vehicles.
I was informed that the replacement costs $1800. I believe this issue warrants a product recall.
Can you please provide me with an estimate for the price of flushing the heater core?
