Every now and then, you might come across fault code P0012 on your 2006 Ford Fusion. This means there's a problem with the VCT (VVT) solenoid. Replacing it can be a lengthy process, mainly due to the challenging access. Initially, you'll have to take off the valve cover and valve gasket, which itself is a complex task. The solenoid is located on the upper left side of the block and held in place by a single bolt. It's a good idea to surround the area with rags to prevent losing the bolt in the engine once it's removed. Expect a small oil leak when you drive the bolt out, which is normal. When installing the new VCT, place it in the slot carefully; the trickier part will be reassembling the rest of the engine.
