The 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk offers both a 4-cylinder and a V6 option, each requiring a specific type and quantity of oil. The smaller 2.0 engine needs 5.0 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil, while the larger 3.2 engine needs 5.9 quarts of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic oil. Although you can use SAE 5W-30 as a substitute for the 5W-20, it's not recommended for the 2.0 engine. It's advised not to substitute oils because higher viscosity leads to increased engine friction, which can result in premature wear, damage, and potential engine failure. While opting for cheaper oil when changing may save you money upfront, it could end up costing you more in the long term.
