The passlock anti-theft system in your 2004 Chevy Colorado is meant to prevent theft, but you may need to override it at times. If the Theft Sys light is on in your car, you can't start it without resetting the system. Turn the key in the ignition to try starting the vehicle. If it doesn't start, turn the key back one position to On. The dashboard lights and radio should work in this position. Keep the key in this spot for about 10 to 15 minutes until the Theft Sys light stays solid. Once it does, start the car right away to reset the passlock system. If it doesn't work after three attempts, there might be another issue that needs attention.

To reset the passlock on a 2004 Chevy Colorado, insert the key and turn it to the on position. Let it remain on for about 10 minutes until the theft system light remains illuminated. After that, you can go ahead and reset the passlock with a new code of your choice.
