The 2015 Ford Escape has a wastegate solenoid located on the driver's side valve cover. A wastegate is a crucial valve in turbocharged engines that regulates the exhaust gases to the turbine wheel. This valve's main job is to control the maximum boost pressure to protect both the engine and the turbocharger. Sometimes, the wastegate can get stuck open. To check if your wastegate is stuck, you can remove the vacuum line from the wastegate actuator and drive cautiously without boost control. Lightly press on the acceleration pedal to see if the boost remains capped at 7-8 psi or if it rises normally.
