To turn off the oil change reminder in your 2006 Ford Explorer, find the "TRIP/RESET" button on your vehicle's controls. Hold down the "TRIP/RESET" button to access the "SYSTEM CHECK" option, which will display information on different systems. Look for the "OIL LIFE RESET" message. Press the "TRIP/RESET" button again and choose "OIL LIFE RESET." The display will prompt you to hold the button if you have changed the oil. Hold the "TRIP/RESET" button for over two seconds to reset the oil life. After completing the process, the display will show "OIL LIFE SET TO 100%.
Press the "trip/reset" button and then choose "reset oil life." The display will indicate "hold reset for new oil.
