To reset the oil light in a 2016 Chevy Malibu, first ensure that the car is turned to the ON position without starting the engine. If your Malibu has a start button, press and hold it for 5 seconds without pressing the brake pedal. Use the right or left arrow buttons on the steering wheel controls to locate the VEHICLE tab menu, and then navigate to the REMAINING OIL LIFE menu using the up or down arrows. Press and hold the checkmark button until a confirmation message appears displaying the remaining oil life percentage. Confirm by selecting YES, and the oil life display will reset to 100 percent. Turn the ignition OFF and then start the Malibu to verify that the reset has been successful.
