For the 2005 Chevy Equinox, you'll need to find the dipstick to check the transmission fluid. The dipstick is located towards the bottom of the transmission, on the right side of the starter when looking at the front of the truck. It is yellow and has a hold-down bolt. To check the transmission fluid, pull out the dipstick while the engine is warmed up and running, and the transmission is in park. Making sure to check the transmission fluid level regularly between service appointments is crucial. Allowing your car to have low transmission fluid levels can lead to improper shifting or no shifting at all.

To assess the transmission fluid on a 2005 Equinox, unfortunately, you're unable to do a visual check due to the hidden and inaccessible dipstick. To access the filler tube, it's required to remove an engine bracket/brace, as demonstrated on YouTube. A straightforward task that took the YouTuber just seven minutes. Alternatively, the drain-fill procedure is similar to changing oil, making it quite simple.

    I didn't verify it.

I've noticed that my 2005 Equinox struggles when going uphill right after I start it cold. The rest of the day it runs fine. I'm wondering if the transmission fluid is low, but I haven't checked yet because I can't find it.
