To check the transmission fluid in a 2005 Ford 500, start by opening the hood of your vehicle and locating the transmission in the engine bay on the left or passenger side. Above the transmission is the reservoir, which has a dipstick sticking out. Wipe the dipstick with a cloth, reinsert it into the reservoir, and then check the fluid level. If a refill is necessary, you may need to purchase a bottle of ATF 4 or Dexron VI fluid, which typically costs between $3 and $23.
