Your 2000 Toyota Tundra requires Dexron-IIiATF for its transmission. Failing to regularly change the fluids, every 30,000 miles or so, may cause transmission slippage. To perform a transmission fluid change on your Tundra, start by parking the vehicle on level ground or raise it for better access to the transmission. Clean the area around the drain plug thoroughly before removing it to let the fluid drain out. Once drained, reattach the drain plug and then pour in approximately 4 quarts of new transmission fluid through the fill tube. Put the dipstick back in the filler tube and remember to check the fluid level on the dipstick after the truck has warmed up.
To perform a transmission fluid change on a 2002 Toyota Tundra, follow these steps: first, drain the fluid from the pan using a method similar to Mr. Macfairlane's. After replacing the filter and pan gasket, refill the transmission with the correct fluid level. Next, disconnect the transmission line located near the bottom of the radiator. Ensure you choose the bottom line among the two connected lines in that location. Attach a clear tube to the transmission cooler, secured with a clamp, leading to a one-gallon milk container. Set the parking brake and start the engine, potentially shifting the transmission to "neutral" to pump out the fluid. Monitor the amount of fluid pumped out into the milk jug and simultaneously add new fluid at a matching rate. Keep an eye on the fluid's color as it gets pumped out - around 4 to 5 quarts later, you should see a change from brownish red to bright pinkish red, indicating a complete fluid replacement.
