The fuel filter in a Hyundai Elantra is typically located within the fuel pump assembly, which is mounted on the underside of the vehicle and connected to the fuel rail. Accessing the filter is relatively easy, requiring the removal of a few bolts. Replacement costs can range from $200 to $800 on average. In instances where the filter and pump are integrated within the gas tank, a new tank may be required to replace the pump, but external access allows for filter replacement. Prices for this type of repair are similar, possibly slightly higher than just replacing the pump. Signs of a failing pump include difficulty accelerating due to insufficient fuel delivery and possibly an inability to start the vehicle in severe cases.
In order to reset the fuel pump in a Hyundai Elantra, locate the inertial switch beneath the dashboard and push the reset button specifically for the fuel pump.
