To inspect the transmission fluid in a 2013 Ford Explorer, start by pulling the hood lever on the driver's side inside your vehicle. Then release the hood's safety latch at the front and push it towards the passenger side to unlock it. Located beneath the cap to the right of the Ford logo, close to the ground, you will find the transmission fluid gauge. Before opening the cap, make sure to clean it with a rag to prevent any debris from falling inside. While the engine is running and at a temperature between 180 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit, remove the cap, wipe the dipstick, reinsert it, and then pull it out again to check the fluid level between the MIN and MAX marks. If it is too low, add more fluid; if it is too high, drain some out.
